On 12 June 1985, Portugal and Spain signed their accession to the European integration process. At the 40th anniversary of that historic enlargement, it is time to reflect on the Iberian contribution to the project and the impact of shared EU membership. To this end, we have organised a conversation in Toledo between the two main protagonists of the accession and Europeanisation of both countries: Aníbal Cavaco Silva (Portuguese Prime Minister, 1985–1995) and Felipe González (Spanish Prime Minister, 1982–1996).
